Meet the Wallet Wise Guy

by Clint Proctor July 1, 2018
Meet the Wallet Wise Guy

My name is Clint Proctor.  In addition to being the founder of this site, I’ve been featured on Business Insider, US News, Forbes, Yahoo Finance, Credit Karma, Student Loan Planner,  and many other news sites and blogs.

But I didn’t come out of the womb being passionate about saving, budgeting, and investing.

My personal financial journey began a decade ago when, as a high school senior, I heard a talk on the importance of preparing for retirement. At the time, I thought the guy was crazy.

Think about retirement!? I’m 18 years old!

But during the talk, I heard some numbers on the power of compound interest that blew my mind.

I knew that the majority of my peers around me would soon be heading off to college and piling themselves under boatloads of debt. But I made a decision at that moment that I was going to do everything in my power to not let that happen.

For the rest of my life, I wanted interest to work for me, not against me.

Becoming a Wallet Wise Guy

So, thus began the journey. I became consumed with becoming a financial ninja.

I read articles and book, listened to podcasts, watched videos, and listened to financial talk radio shows constantly. And slowly but surely, I began learning the skills that I would need to succeed with money.

Those skills have paid off for me in an amazing way. Instead of going into debt during college, I was able to invest my first few thousand dollars.

And, since then, my wife and I have paid cash for our cars, we’ve purchased our first home, we’ve taken fantastic family vacations, saved for retirement, and we’re saving to buy our first investment property soon.

And no, our success wasn’t due to high income. For the first 7 years of our marriage (until June 2019), I was a pastor. So we never made anywhere close to six figures. Instead, we just put tried and true financial principles into place, and it resulted in financial peace.

Thriving Under 30

My goal for this blog is that it would inspire lots of other young people like myself to take control of their financial futures NOW.

Whether you’re in high school, college, or starting your career, this site is meant to help you win at money.

You don’t need to wait (and shouldn’t) till your 40 to start reaching your financial goals. This blog is meant to help you to be financially thriving BEFORE the age of 30.

Regardless of what brings you here, my hope is that this blog will help kick-start your own amazing financial journey and become yet another young wallet wise guy…or gal!”
